Rosa

Rosa was born and raised in West Virginia and raised eight children in the county. Their first home had a well that became unusable and they moved to the house Rosa currently lives in more than 25 years ago. They ran a water line 300 feet up the side of a mountain and into an abandoned coal mine to have running water in their home, having no way of knowing the water quality. The water would run low and slow in the summer months and the tap would have to stay open in the winter months in order to ensure the whole line did not freeze. Rosa recalls a time when her grandchildren came to visit, and having been raised in a home with piped water and taught to turn off the tap, they turned it off at her home, where nobody noticed for hours. The whole line froze and her late husband, then in his 70s, had to walk the icy slope with a torch unfreezing the line. When he passed, Rosa thought she would have to move, but DigDeep was able to connect her and her neighbors to the local water district.
